  Four Winds Journal

Four Winds Journal acknowledges that everyone is no doubt exhausted by the avalanche of infobytes that innundate us not just daily but hourly, as the administration shifts course from one doubtful policy to another and the country reacts to government shutdown, sex scandals, demolition of revered icons, and more.  Originally, we had planned to give ourselves and everyone else a break with an issue on the views of young people in this country and around the world.  After all, they will inherit whatever is left when the dust settles.

However, based on the fact that speaking truth to power seems to be making headway (e.g. the recent Democratic wins in Congress and elsewhere, the increase in frequency and intensity of protests, and the push to open the Epstein files as we approach the 2026 Miderms) we have decided to support this renaissance of courage in a Winter issue with the theme of resistance.

FWJ Fall/Winter 2025:  Resist!!!

FWJ Summer 2025 Boots on the Ground – and Pushback! is here now!

When we first thought of the theme for this third issue of the  Collateral Damage series, Boots on the Ground, we intended to focus on the depredation caused by patriarchal lust for power and territory and the various ways in which it can manifest:  sanctions, tariffs, and actual military deployment being only a few.  However, with the recent widespread pushback against the current US administration’s ill-conceived policies, we recognize that there can be “boots on the ground” on both sides.

FWJ Winter 2025 the Others is here now!

We’re not all alike. People and their customs take many forms— some of which we may not fully understand. What we don’t understand, we don’t trust. What we don’t trust, we fear. What we fear, we hate. How does the practice of “othering” affect us and our world?
