When we first thought of the theme for this third issue of Four Winds Journal’s Collateral Damage series, Boots on the Ground, we intended to focus on the depredation caused by patriarchal lust for power and territory and the various ways in which it can manifest: sanctions, tariffs, and actual military deployment being only a few.
However, with the recent pushback against the current US administration’s ill-conceived policies, we recognize that there can be “boots on the ground” on both sides. The Summer issue of Four Winds Journal will address the many ways that people—educators, the courts, professionals, and some politicians, as well as thousands of concerned citizens all around the country—are responding to the tyrannical demands emerging from the White House every day.
This outburst of righteous anger, of red energy, is empowering, encouraging, and reassuring. It is a dynamic catalyst for change that pushes governance to uphold the rule of law, to protect our Constitution, and to preserve the gains made in the democratic experiment that has been the bedrock of America’s dream for over 300 years.
During the last three months, we’ve all been overwhelmed by the media avalanche of infobytes and the resulting memes, satire, drama, etc. We are more interested in people’s personal views. Therefore, we invite you to share your thoughts and experiences with our readers.
